Les Jardins de Sothys

Sothys is a recognized brand name for beauty products found in exclusive beauty centres and spas.  The products are made in the Corrèze area.   In Auriac, there is a beautiful garden that reflects the company's philosophy that nature is the source of beauty and must be respected.

At the entrance of Les Jardins de Sothys sits a 1.4 ton granite ball seeming to float on water.  Smooth, soft and shiny, water surrounds this ball which turns on its own thanks to a water pressure (hydraulic) system.  With just a gentle touch, one can stop it and reverse its direction.

Harmony with nature.  Inspired by this remarkable site, where beauty is cultivated like an art of living, an Advanced Research Division now promotes the discovery of unique and natural active ingredients exclusive to Sothys.

Dr. Hotz, a medical biologist, founded Sothys in 1946.  The Mas brothers developed the company as of 1966, and the Corrèze region is their homeland.  They are the ones who were inspired to create this garden.

The Constellation Garden.

Each shrub is planted in a design to represent one of the stars in a constellation.

The Japanese Garden

Aromatic Garden

Identified mint, fennel, thyme, sage, chives, and a few others.  I didn't recognize the scent or even the look of most.

The Rose Garden

We're at the end of the season, and with the excessive sun we've had, many plants have suffered.

Water Garden

Velvet Garden

Sorry, but touching your screen will not help you feel the softness of these plants.

Sun Garden

There were other gardens such as the hydrating garden where mist sprayed regularly. the prairie garden which was a long walk in wild grasses, and the scented garden.  Sorry, this blog doesn't have scratch and smell capability, either!

Butterflies flitting from flower to flower in the gardens.

These ferocious looking insects are all part of nature too.

A little something to bring home from a delightful visit.

  1. I would have been in heaven here. So much to fill the senses. The water ball has a cousin at the beach in Dundarave here in West Vancouver. In this case, it is a gift from the German Canadian community. Everyone stops to look at it but it's the children who love to touch it and watch it gently turn. Margi

    1. I thought of you as I wandered the garden. It is very different than the Butchart Gardens in Brentwood Bay. I did not know about the similar ball in WV. We will have to visit it together when I get back.
